The Time Has Finally Come

My greeting cards are going on sale at the Camberwell Market this Sunday, so if you're in Melbourne you best be there before they sell out. I hope.
$4.50 each. The ones that don't sell I may try and sell through the blog. I'll keep you posted. Wish me luck!

Flapper With A Shaved Head

Attempt at making an old fashioned looking woman into a hipster in dress-up mode. Fail.

I tried the concept again, this time with Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast At Tiffany's doing the hipster and it worked a lot better. I've uploaded a rough draft here today but I'm going to show you everything I've done soon. I've got my first market stall at the end of May, so I'm nearly finished drawing everything up for the cards I'm selling there.

I'm so excited! And terrified.

Rough First Draft Without A Cause

First look at what will soon become James Dean, can't you tell? I'm going to fill it in with ink and attempt cross-hatching again so he'll look similar to Marlon Brando from last year. And I'll probably make his jacket red.

He looks like a ghost. I'm going to do his face right now so he doesn't haunt my dreams looking like that before I go to bed tonight. Sweet dreams...

Peeping Tom

This is my second try at the sunburnt man, only a sneak peek but still quite an improvement from the last post. This is something that will make it onto a t-shirt, so when that's all underway I'll show you the whole thing. Til then, you'll have to use your imagination...

Badly Drawn Sunburnt Man

Not so much a fail as a trial. I haven't done a proper cross-hatch in ages so I've forgotten how to do it properly. But I like the comic book look on his abs. On the finished product I reckon I'll do his whole body that way. As for the colour, I'll copy what I did to his arms only, the rest looks dodge as. And what a quiff, hey!

I can hear you laughing...

Hey Guys,

My blog idea is changing. While I've had so much fun with this little project and I can see I've come a hella long way from when I started, I want to try and do something more with this than just post drawings on here. I feel I've come to a point where I can move forward and progress to something bigger and better, and to do that I need to branch out from where I am now and take risks and do new things.

Does this sound like a break-up? Because I'm definitely not leaving you guys! I'm going to keep going with the blog, I'm just going to change what I'm posting. Instead of a drawing a week (or one every couple of months, the way I've been going lately) I'm going to only put the random drawings and failures up here that I can't use for t-shirts... Yeah, that's right, I'm making t-shrts guys! I'm aiming to open a stall by mid-year, so like July hopefully. I'll give more details as soon as I know what I'm doing.

But what I'm trying to say is I'm going to print drawings that haven't been seen up here, to make them more special. I will give you sneak peeks though, (like the one below! So exciting) and post whatever drawings didn't make the cut. I also won't be posting as often, I'll try for a couple of times a month. We'll see.

I'm so excited and nervous, but I'm glad I've got you to see me through this journey! See you soon and please feel free to tell me what you think.

Sneak peek of a t-shirt design. The finished drawing will be in colour.

A failure. Wouldn't work on a t-shirt but it still looks really nice, I think. I like the clean black shape of the woman's dress. I don't know why but it reminds me of Audrey Hepburn.

Bits And Pieces

This is what I've been up to lately. These drawings are by no means perfect. I'm just practicing, particularly with black and white and I think I've improved heaps.

My favourite is the umbrella...
